Educational Value
During summer 2023, the PAL will offer a limited availability Tutoring program for Kansas students entering 3rd through 12th grade. All tutoring sessions will be held in person, on-site at the Police Athletic League in downtown Kansas City, KS. The PAL Tutoring Program focuses on core subjects of English/ELA, Mathematics and Social Studies for elementary, middle school and high school levels. The PAL Tutoring Program staff is led by licensed Kansas teachers from local schools, each with 10-30 years of teaching experience. These educators have deep subject-matter expertise and experience bringing students to grade-level competency and beyond, and will work individually with students needing help in these core subjects. Students will use a curriculum consistent with Kansas state assessment standards and learn improved study skills and techniques to use in their classroom work at school during the regular session. This program is ideal for students to help overcome learning loss from the pandemic, and/or to help accelerate mastery of essential subject matter. The program will be held in 2 time sessions beginning June 6, over a 5-week period.
