Educational Value
Our mission is to promote education in the arts, sciences, and humanities through hands-on activities and exhibits, which instill a desire for lifelong learning, recognizing our cultural diversity, and fostering creative potential. We offer after-school programs for students in K-5th grades. It involves hands-on learning aimed at engaging the strengths and creativity of each individual child. One of the programs we provide is a Teen Mentor program that allows teens in the area to come work with us and volunteer their time, which turns into employment opportunities when a Teen Mentor has accumulated enough volunteer hours. Further, when USD 383 is out of class, we offer Discovery Days where we spend the day together hiking, making art, performing experiments, playing games, going on field trips, and much more. Lastly, we have a Think Big Summer Camp every summer. Our camp offers fun and engaging learning experiences for all ages. Campers will learn daily from various hands-on science experiments, arts and humanities activities, and indoor/outdoor museum play. To top it all off, we will also have a special field trip each week!
