Educational Value

Theatre Salina & Center for Theatre Arts offers an array of dance classes for students ages 2 - adult. Genres offered include ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and Acro. Research shows that dancing can release chemicals in the brain that actively work to reduce cortisol, which helps reduce stress, anxiety and depression, and help the body develop muscles, improve circulation, improve posture, balance, coordination and promote greater flexibility. CTA also offers week-long theatre camps throughout the year dedicated to the introduction of music theatre to new campers and expansion on music theatre knowledge for returning campers, in addition to semester-long and school year long music theatre classes. Music Theatre improves mental, emotional and physical health, and enhances creative problem-solving, capacities for collaboration and effective communication.
